Level 1&2 browser access

by hanzhi.lin » Fri Apr 07, 2023 10:17 am America/New_York

Has this maintenance finished?

I have been trying to use the "Level 1&2 browser" since this Thursday. But until now, the website always responds me with a '404 not found' webpage after I click the 'order data'.

Yes, maintenance is complete. We did a couple of tests and we are not experiencing issues bringing up the browser. Since the maintenance required reconfiguration, you may need to clear your browser cache and try again. Please let us know if the issue persists.

Hello, after waiting for one week, I tested the order_data function again, and the response is still the "404 Not Found".

I was testing this on Google chrome internet browser. All history, cache, etc had been cleaned before this test.

I don't understand your issue. Can you describe your process with using Level 1 & 2 browser so I can understand why and when you are getting these 404 errors?

Oh, sorry for this confusion. I should have mentioned this post is a follow-up for my first post in this thread.

Actually, since OB finished the data maintenance, I have been experiencing issues in the L1&2 browser.

The first webpage is to let us select ROI, time range, instrument etc. Then we click the "Find swath" and come to the second webpage.

My issue occurs in this second webpage. When I clicked the "order data" button on the top right of the w, the website responds with a "404 not found".

The web browser I was testing on was Google Chrome. All cache including autofilling password had been cleared before this test. Thanks in advance for your time.

Can you verify on your earthdata account (https://urs.earthdata.nasa.gov) that you have authorized "OB.DAAC L1/2 Browser" by navigating to 'Applications' > 'Approved Applications'? If you don't see OB.DAAC L1/2 Browser in your list, click the 'Approve more applications' button at the bottom of the list. Search for OB.DAAC L1/2 Browser, then approve it. Try to download your data after that and let us know if it works.

Thank you for pointing me to the right direction.

I did find my earthdata account had not been authorized with "OB.DAAC L1/2 Browser", and then I added this authorization following the instruction in the post.

But I'm still not able to get through the 'order data' process in the L1/2 Browser. After I typed in my earthdata account information (I tried on different computers with the cache of their web browser cleared), the "404-not-found" webpage has this web address:

https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/restrict/browse.pl?per=MO&day=16679&prm=CHL&set=10&ndx=0&mon=16679&sen=amod&rad=0&frc=0&rgn=ArabianSea&id=1681581593.3521118&cn=26.77&cs=-1.21&cw=51.02&ce=75.68&dnm=D&sub=order

I notice there is a "restrict" in this address. Thus I think I may be almost there but just don't know how to further adjust my earthdata account?

I appreciate your time to reply my posts.

I believe this is the result of your information (data selections) going stale on the page. Even though you can see the parameters you selected in your URL, the information only remains for your session, so using that URL again won't work if you save it. Instead, you will need to start over and re-enter your selections. Please report back to indicate if you were able to complete your order from making selections through the tool vs copying a prior URL.

Thanks for this advice. I just tried on another browser whos cache and all history had been cleared. However, when I input my earthdata account information, the 404 not found came out again. I copied the webpage address here. I was testing to find swaths in the area of N30S29W100E101.

https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/restrict/browse.pl?per=CU&day=19465&prm=CHL&set=10&ndx=0&mon=19417&sen=amod&rad=0&frc=0&n=30&s=29&w=100&e=101&id=1681828787.1205727&cn=29.91&cs=28.29&cw=99.41&ce=100.85&dnm=D&sub=order

It is interesting to me that other functions on OB.DAAC work good for me (this earthdata account).

Hi All,

I'm having a similar issue after clearing the cache and signing up for the new application. Both Firefox and chrome have the issue. I can subset and pick the region, but then when I click order data, I get the 404 not found error.
