Foliage Height Diversity calculation in GEDI
Foliage Height Diversity calculation in GEDI
Hello,
What are the layers used to calculate fhd_normal in the GEDI L2B product? Is it the 0.61m and 7.6m of the MacArthurs, or is it the 5m intervals used for other L2B layers like pai and pavd? I'm hoping to replicate this value.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Foliage Height Diversity calculation in GEDI
@ctampion ,
fhd_normal is calculated using a 1 m resolution pavd_z profile, instead of the 5 m resolution used for the pavd_z, pai_z, and cover_z profiles available in the L2B product. The 1 m pavd_z profile is not available in L2B, but it is possible to recalculate it from the pgap_theta_z profile. Please visit the ATBD which provides the background for this: https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/documents/588/G ... D_v1.0.pdf.

Hello,
I was wondering if you could give me a more detailed explanation of how you calculated the pavd_z profile for z=1m?
