alternative R2022 IOP products
alternative R2022 IOP products
Hi all -
I just started looking around at the new MODIS-Aqua R2022 products. I understand that GIOP is the default model for estimating component IOPs. Will other comparable model outputs (e.g., GSM, QAA) be made available at Level 3 ? This was the case with R2018, but I don't see newly regenerated products anywhere.
Thanks!
Toby

Re: alternative R2022 IOP products
The GSM, QAA and ZLEE products are currently under evaluation and have not yet been produced with the R2022.0 configuration. I don't know when or if they will be made available.

Re: alternative R2022 IOP products
The R2022 GSM data have been reprocessed for MODIS and SeaWiFS and MERIS.
Following our new naming convention, the files have names like:
AQUA_MODIS.20230930.L4b.DAY.GSM.nc
AQUA_MODIS.20230930.L4m.DAY.GSM.adg_443_gsm.4km.nc
AQUA_MODIS.20230930.L4m.DAY.GSM.bbp_443_gsm.4km.nc
AQUA_MODIS.20230930.L4m.DAY.GSM.chl_gsm.4km.nc
They are available under the 'Special' tab on https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/directdataaccess/

Re: alternative R2022 IOP products
it appears alternative IOP models beyond the default GIOP may not be made available in MODIS Aqua R2022. Those do not confirm the availability of GSM, QAA, or other IOP outputs at Level 3 like previous R2018 products.

Thank you! I had long-since moved on :0
These are indicated as 'L4' files. Does that mean they were computed from L3 Rrs instead of using L2gen then binning them up?
Best,
Toby
