I'm usually using python's urllib to download MODIS files from the Earth Data server (https://e4ftl01.cr.usgs.gov/MOLT/). This always used to work nicely. Today, I noticed, however, that only the download for the xml files is working. The download for the hdf files is just hanging for ever (or became ultra slow). I tried this on different platforms, so it's definitely not a problem of my internet connection. When I download the files directly from the server (for example https://e4ftl01.cr.usgs.gov/MOLT/MOD09A1.061/2018.02.26/MOD09A1.A2018057.h33v07.061.2021318085316.hdf) it works smoothly.
Did anything change to the server in the last month to explain this?

Re: Slow Download of HDF files using urllib
Good Morning,
Could you send us you script and we can take a look to see what may be going on. I can't think of any changes on e4ftl01.cr.usgs.gov that may have caused this.
Thanks,
Brett
