SWOT
I am a non-for-profit researcher managing a project to DETERMINE THE CARRYING CAPACITY OF EARTH TO SUPPORT LIFE.
The first part of my project is to DETERMINE THE VOLUME OF FRESHWATER AVAILABLE ON EARTH.
My question is: Is possible to determine the volume of freshwater on Earth using data from SWOT?
A year ago I supposed that the combination of data from GRACE and Swot could be the best source, but I know that there is another satellite named PACE that could be helpful.

Re: SWOT
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your request was forwarded to our SWOT subject matter expert, who had the following reply:

The question of whether it is possible to determine the volume of freshwater on Earth using data from SWOT is really a research question of “how well can we estimate the volume of freshwater available on Earth using SWOT data”. I suggest that you talk with a few hydrologists about the capabilities and limitations of SWOT river and lake data. Are you looking for published (or soon-to-be published) papers about freshwater volume? Or trying to make your own calculation? Key considerations include the fact that SWOT is nominally designed to observe only rivers wider than 100 m and lakes with surface area greater than 250 m x 250 m.

Re: SWOT
Thanks for your response Ms. Ou, I know that SWOT have some limitations, but I suppose that we can get a better estimation than the one we have until now. Do you know if there is somebody trying to make that calculation in the SWOT team? Can you give me some names and emails of the hidrologists in charge in SWOT team? Do you know if there is a project similar to mine?
