Delay/ lag in Sentinel-1 SLC

by piyush » Tue Jun 25, 2024 8:53 pm America/New_York

Hi,
We are noticing reduced numbers in daily counts of S1 SLC granules for the last 4-5 days. We haven't noticed any related announcement by Copernicus here: https://dataspace.copernicus.eu/news . We are also noticing an increased delay in SLCs being published to CMR. Would it be possible to provide more info on the issue or a timeline for resolution?

Thanks
Piyush

Hello Piyush,
We're trying to get more information on the cause of the increased latency, and we'll update you when we have more to report.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi Bill,

We have been seeing low counts and increased latency again over last couple of days again. Is there a resource on ESA side that you could point us to that might indicate issues at source? We have been following https://dataspace.copernicus.eu/news closely but that does not appear to explain most of our recent observations in delay.

Thanks
Piyush

Piyush,
I haven't seen anything posted at ASF that indicates any disruption in the Sentinel-1 pipeline, but ASF closed this holiday weekend. I'll see what I can find out and let you know.

Piyush,
Most likely "...a slow down between ESA and NSG. We are receiving from NSG, but about a day behind it looks like. [Nothing] on the ESA operations dashboard https://operations.dashboard.copernicus.eu/data-takes.html that suggests they are behind with S1 processing."

I'll let you know if I hear more.

Thanks.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for looking into this during the break. Yeah, we are noticing that ASF latency has gone up from 6 -12 hours to almost 2 days now. The latest images are now about a day behind but since the 3rd week of June - the latency has been approaching 2 days.

Thanks
Piyush
