User authentication for OceanColor website services

by OB.DAAC - SeanBailey » Mon Nov 23, 2015 6:38 pm America/New_York

Dear Ocean Color Users,

The Ocean Color web services will be migrating all services that require user authentication to the NASA’s Earthdata Login (User Registration Service, URS,https://urs.earthdata.nasa.gov/).
This includes the Ocean Color Forum, near real-time data subscriptions, data ordering, and data access for MERIS and HICOL1 data.Currently, users may have up to three accounts to access these services.  After the transition, only one will be required and it will be the same used to access user services from other NASA EOSDIS/Earthdata entities (and the one currently used to access MERIS and HICO L1 data).
Our goal is to fully transition to URS for user authentication by 31 December 2015.
If you do not have a user account with the Earthdata Login system, you may want to register now to be prepared for the transition.

Registration is easy, simply go to the website:
https://urs.earthdata.nasa.gov
Click the “Register” button and fill out the profile information. If you already have an account with URS, you are all set!Once the transition occurs, you will log into our services using the URS credentials.  We will make every effort to ensure your account information is seamlessly updated when you first log in following the transition.  If your URS information (e.g. your email address) differs from the information used to register with our legacy systems, you may need to enter the legacy credentials to associate your URS credentials with your OC web accounts.  This will only need to be done the first time you log in following the transition for eachservice. We will post a follow up message once the transition has occurred.  In that message we will include specific details on how to update your account information.
Until then, you can familiarize yourself with the Earthdata Login system by reading the documentation provided at the following web link:
https://urs.earthdata.nasa.gov/documentation

Regards,
The Ocean Color Support Team
