partial download of modis and viirs data

by akasom » Fri Nov 22, 2024 7:47 am America/New_York

I am interested in downloading satellite data partially. I have several questions :

is it possible to do this for all satellite images?? (mainly modis and viirs). if this is not the case what are the prerequisites for that purpose? Is there any serivce which lets user download only part of satellite image?

If you mean spatial extracts of scenes, then yes, you can request spatial extracts for your region of interest.

For L1/2 data see:
https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi/browse.pl

For L3/4 data see:
https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/l3/

L3/4 data are also available via OPeNDAP if your client program supports it.

Hello,
I am not sure which MODIS and VIIRS products you are interested in, but most of our MODIS/VIIRS land products are available through our AppEEARS site: https://appeears.earthdatacloud.nasa.gov/
AppEEARS will spatially and spectrally subset and it can reformat and reproject also. It outputs a .csv file and graphs along with the raster data.
Thanks,
Brett
