Issues downloading Earthdata with both app and script

When trying to download the Gridded Population of the world national boundaries files from the earthdata app, the files get stuck in the "initialising" state for many hours and never actually begin downloading. When I try to use the default generated script to download these to linux (with wget and curl installed) I receive the error message below. When I try to download just the Gridded Population of the world population count files using the earthdata app Version 4 revision 11, I got stuck in an endless cycle of logins where the app would ask me to log in, which would open the browser, I would then log in on the browser, which would then open the app to confirm the login, which would then reopen the browser to log in, and at no point were the downloads able to begin.

We looked into the GPW download, so, in order to download the data, please use direct download.

Thank you for your quick response on this. Could you clarify what you mean by the direct download and how I should go about it? When I use the scripts generated for wget or curl I get the error in the attached file and download does not take place. Is there a way to download from the website without using the application? If so could you advise me on how to do this?

Hi,

So, when you go download a GPW data, for example, the GPW population density v4.11(https://earthdata.nasa.gov/data/catalog/sedac-ciesin-sedac-gpwv4-popdens-r11-4.11), click on the blue "Data Access" button on the right side of your screen. A Data Access window will pop-up, and one of the options under the "Name" column, please choose "Direct Download".

To resolve your Earthdata download issues:

App Issues: Ensure a stable internet connection, update to the latest app version, and clear its cache or reinstall.
Endless Login Cycle: Reset your application token on the Earthdata website and use a supported browser as default.
wget/curl Script: Verify authentication credentials, ensure proper use of cookies or tokens, and edit the script to include:

wget --load-cookies ~/.urs_cookies --save-cookies ~/.urs_cookies -i <URL>
Alternative: Manually download files or seek help on the Earthdata Forum.
This should resolve your downloading challenges effectively.
