503 Error when downloading

I am trying to access Terra Modis datasets, https://appeears.earthdatacloud.nasa.gov/products. I have consistently had a 503 error appear when I try to access. This same error appears when I try to access MCD12Q2 data from https://lpdaac.usgs.gov.

I have been able to reproduce similar results. Unfortunately this issue is not yet well-understood. The issue has been passed along to the relevant teams and they are actively checking into this to identify the root cause.

We apologize for any inconvenience. In the meantime, please try to complete your download from a new browser window. If you are signed into a browser, please use a different profile and see if you are able to retrieve your files. This worked for me.

Hello @sydney.n.heathcott_erdccerl Could you please confirm if you are seeing the 503 error within AppEEARS itself via the https://appeears.earthdatacloud.nasa.gov/ or https://appeears.earthdatacloud.nasa.gov/explore OR if you are seeing the error from our website i.e. https://doi.org/10.5067/MODIS/MCD12Q2.061? If it is with our website, this is a known issue in some browsers. Please try clearing your cache or accessing the page with a different browser, such as FireFox. If it is with AppEEARS, please let me know and we'll continue to look into it.

I was getting the error in the AppEEARS website, https://appeears.earthdatacloud.nasa.gov/, and the https://doi.org/10.5067/MODIS/MCD12Q2.061, however I am no longer getting that error. Now, I just keep getting redirected back and forth between https://appeears.earthdatacloud.nasa.gov/ and https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/products/mcd12q2v061/#tools when I try to download the data.

hi @sydney.n.heathcott_erdccerl just to be clear, are you trying to download the data from AppEEARS? You would not need to go to the LP DAAC website to do this. After signing in with your Earthdata Login account, go to the tab that says "Extract" and then either chose Area or Point based on the how you would like the data returned. Then click on "Start a new request" and fill out and submit the request form. Once it is done being processed, you'll receive an email and can then download the data from the "Explore" tab.

The tools section of the DOI Landing page (https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/products/mcd12q2v061/#tools) takes you to the tools you can use to download the data, but you will still need to complete the actions to access and download the data within the tool itself.
