Level 2 VIIRS Data Subscriptions

by oceani » Thu Nov 13, 2025 12:03 pm America/New_York

For the past few days availability of level 2 VIIRS data (all VIIRS sensors, both Chl and SST) has been hit or miss. No data a few days ago, then we received data the day before yesterday and now, since yesterday a data gap again. We have many VIIRS subscriptions. All of them void of data since 11/10 or 11/11. A few example subscription numbers would be: 1676, 2124 and 3718. Also, not sure if you are fully operational yet given the shutdown issues and completely understand if you are just working to spin everything back up. On a good note: I don't know how the shutdown affected your division, but you all did a great job of keeping data flowing during that time period. Many thanks for that. Very much appreciated!

Hi Oceani,

It sounds consistent with a temporary slowdown in the OB.DAAC Level-2 processing pipeline rather than an issue with individual subscriptions. When ingestion is recovering from maintenance or a service interruption, the subscription feeds can appear empty even though the sensors are collecting data normally.

The missing days typically backfill once the processing queue stabilizes again.
