VNP43MA1 v002 is not available anymore
I'm currently using earthaccess.search_data() function on python to recover VNP43MA1 v002 products (https://doi.org/10.5067/VIIRS/VNP43MA1.002). Since February 1st 12:00 (CET), the functions returns empty lists, so I created the following ticket: https://github.com/nsidc/earthaccess/issues/1160.
It appears that the issue is "a CMR issue, not an earthaccess issue. Unfortunately, during the past week or so, the CMR has been having problems, causing search results to be incomplete or empty." Indeed, https://cmr.earthdata.nasa.gov/search/collections.umm_json?short_name=VNP43MA1&version=002 returns 0 hit.
My question is do you confirm that there is an issue regarding VNP43MA1 v002 products, and if yes do you know when that could be fixed ?

Hi,
Sorry for the delays with this. This is not a VNP43MA1 issue, but rather it is a CMR issue. They are aware of this and think they can resolve it in a few hours. Please try again this afternoon. Thanks for your patience.

Hi,
Thank you very much for your answer.
It was indeed working after your reply, but not this morning (with a last try at 10:00 CET).
Thank you very much for your time & investigation regarding this issue.
Jean-Sébastien.

Hi @jscarriere It looks like CMR is having issues again this morning. The CMR team is working to resolve them. Please try again in a few hours.

Re: VNP43MA1 v002 is not available anymore
Hi again,
Sorry to bother you with this. The issue was indeed fixed right after your last message, but it failed again this morning.
My production code takes more than 24 hours to run, which always ends in failure because VIIRS access has been unavailable every morning since February 1st.
For now, I will stop my production until the CMR issue is resolved in a more permanent way. Do you have any additional information about the CMR issue that might give us a clearer idea of the timeline for a permanent fix?
I hope I’m not asking too much.
In any case, thank you again for your time and help in resolving this matter.
Best regards,
Jean-Sébastien

Hi @jscarriere I don't have a specific timeline to share at this moment. However, it looks like CMR is working well today. Do you have retries set up in your code if the data access fails? If you would like, please feel free to send a snippet of your code to us (to lpdaac@usgs.gov) and we can take a look to see if there is anything we can suggest to help. Thanks -- Danielle
