by LP DAAC - jwilson » Tue Dec 09, 2025 2:23 pm America/New_York

Issued Dec. 5, 2025

The following Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) Version 3 and 3.1 data products are scheduled to be decommissioned on Dec. 15, 2025:

ASTER Digital Elevation Model V003
ASTER L1A Reconstructed Unprocessed Instrument Data V003
ASTER L1B Registered Radiance at the Sensor V003
ASTER L2 Surface Emissivity V003
ASTER L2 Surface Radiance - VNIR and Crosstalk Corrected SWIR V003
ASTER L2 Surface Radiance TIR V003
ASTER L2 Surface Radiance VNIR and SWIR V003
ASTER L2 Surface Reflectance SWIR and ASTER L2 Surface Reflectance VNIR V003
ASTER L2 Surface Reflectance VNIR and Crosstalk Corrected SWIR V003
ASTER L2 Surface Temperature V003
ASTER Level 1 precision terrain corrected registered at-sensor radiance V003
ASTER Registered Radiance at the Sensor - Orthorectified V003
ASTER Orthorectified Digital Elevation Model (DEM) V003
ASTER Level 1 Precision Terrain Corrected Registered At-Sensor Radiance V031

Users should note that the following products will not be produced in Version 4:

ASTER On-Demand L3 DEM and Orthorectified Images V003 (AST14DMO.003)
ASTER On-Demand L3 Orthorectified Images V003 (AST14OTH.003)

This decommission does not include the removal of ASTER Global Digital Elevation Model V003(ASTGTM.003). Users will still have access to the ASTER GTM V003 data.

Users are encouraged to begin using the ASTER Version 4 final collections, which include improved atmospheric corrections and updated geolocation data to deliver better accuracy and consistency. ASTER Version 4 data do not require users to submit orders to process data; they are now available as full collections spanning the entire ASTER mission period. New ASTER observations will be processed and added to the Version 4 collections as they are acquired.
