Correct use of data center/service provider keyword

by speculate_something » Fri Jan 16, 2026 6:55 am America/New_York

Hi

I am unsure what the correct way of using the data center/service provider keyword for the Norwegian Meteorological Institute is. This is the keyword I am thinking of: https://gcmd.earthdata.nasa.gov/KeywordViewer/scheme/all/1595f671-8978-48a8-ae99-e3a82d2450d5?gtm_keyword=NO/MET&gtm_scheme=providers

It is the short name/long name part that I am unsure about. Do I have to include the long name like below?

GOVERNMENT AGENCIES-NON-US > NORWAY > NO/MET > NORWEGIAN METEOROLOGICAL INSTITUTE, NORWAY

Or do I just have to include the short name?

GOVERNMENT AGENCIES-NON-US > NORWAY > NO/MET

Hi, in the collection metadata 'DataCenter/LongName' is not required (but highly recommended). Please see the full guidance at https://wiki.earthdata.nasa.gov/spaces/CMR/pages/118136878/Data+Center
