Hi there,
The jpg thumbnails and xml information for MCD43A4 have the wrong metadata. I'm a bit of a middle-man here, but I believe they should be marked as GET RELATED VISUALIZATION or VIEW RELATED INFORMATION but are instead marked as GET DATA. See here for more details: https://github.com/nsidc/earthaccess/issues/1226
The practical impact is that this means that the earthaccess tool (and I suspect others) download these files when they are not requested.

Hi @bradweir Thanks for writing in and reporting this issue. The LP DAAC is planning on addressing it in the release of Collection 7.
