Daymet single pixel download question..?

by kpuln » Mon Mar 02, 2026 4:18 pm America/New_York

Hello,

I am looking to download Daymet North American data (https://www.earthdata.nasa.gov/data/catalog/ornl-cloud-daymet-daily-v4r1-2129-4.1) using the Single Pixel Extraction tool (https://daac.ornl.gov/cgi-bin/dsviewer.pl?ds_id=2361). After a review of the documentation on GitHub, the tool takes as inputs the Latitude and Longitude values of each tile. However, I have noticed that on the interactive map, the TileID is displayed for each pixel/tile.

Is anyone aware of a method to download the pixels/tiles using their respective TileIDs instead of their Lat/Long coordinates..?

Thank you kindly,

KP

Hello kpuln,

The Daymet Single Pixel Extraction Tool only works for an input of lat / lon coordinates as described here https://daymet.ornl.gov/web_services under the Scripts to Automate Single Pixel Data Extraction tab. The TileID is a legacy hold-over of the tool. Tiled data are not available.

Please ignore the Scripts to Automate Gridded Subsets of Daymet Data tab. Those methods are no longer available as on-prem distribution is discontinued. We are working on updating this information.

Daymet data are also available from NASA Earthdata at https://www.earthdata.nasa.gov/data/projects/daymet/data-access-tools

Thank you for reaching out.
