NASA's ASDC and the Clouds and Earth Radiant Energy System (CERES) Science Team have released the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration - 20 (NOAA-20) Edition 1C FluxbyCldTyp Collections. The new data product suite, Edition 1C FluxByCldTyp, is a Level 3 set of gridded products available in two temporal resolutions, FluxByCldTyp-Day and FluxByCldTyp-Month. The discontinuation of the Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO) Goddard Earth Observing System (GEOS5.4.1) reanalysis dataset in July 2024 prompted the CERES team to release the Edition 1C product suite. Edition 1C processes Single Scanner Footprint (SSF) with the Global Modeling and Assimilation Office’s (GMAO) Modern-Era Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications, Version 2 (MERRA-2) data product over the entire data record. These collections replace Edition1B and provide NOAA-20 daytime 1°-regional gridded daily and monthly averaged top of the atmosphere (TOA) radiative fluxes and associated Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS)- derived cloud properties stratified by optical depth and cloud effective pressure. This initial release covers the period May 2018 – December 2025. More recent data will become available as forward processing continues.
