Re: ASTER L1A HDF TO GEOTIFF
@nufaisa Thank you for your question. Other users have mentioned the code found here: https://github.com/bmenounos/process_ASTER/blob/main/aster_hdf2geotiff_micmac.py appears to produce outputs for Version 4 data that are consistent with those created by the HEG tool for Version 3. While we cannot guarantee that the code will replicate HEG Tool outputs in all cases, because we are not the curators of this code and we cannot vouch for or officially recommend this code, it does seem to provide what you are looking for in this instance. We are also exploring additional services to deliver Version 4 HDF-EOS ASTER products as GeoTIFF in the future; however, the timeline for availability is currently unknown.

AST14DEM_00404292025045104_20251009091208 Can you provide me with the information regarding the *acquisition date* of the DEM scene? Has the data been resampled/extrapolated from older versions or this data belongs to the time and date mentioned in the scene? Waiting for your response

Re: ASTER L1A HDF TO GEOTIFF
@nufaisa Hi, The file name begins with the Product Short Name (AST14DEM), followed by the 3-digit Version Number plus the Date and Time of Acquisition designated as MMDDYYYYHHMMSS (00404292025045104), Date and Time of Processing designated as YYYYMMDDHHMMSS (20251009091208), and the Data Format (tif).

Re: ASTER L1A HDF TO GEOTIFF
@nufaisa Our science team would like to know if that Github script we referred to you worked?
Re: ASTER L1A HDF TO GEOTIFF
Yes, I have used the Git code, Its just for the conversion from HDF to TIFF, software demands the old version of metadata to be included for DEM generation, it doesnt work on new format.
