Moana PicoEukaryotes Processing

by lilliangrace » Tue Jun 09, 2026 11:56 am America/New_York

Hello!

I downloaded PACE Level 1B v3 data and was using SeaDAS V2026.2 to get the picoeuk_moana level 2 product for a region in the Weddell Sea (S:-64, N:-60, W: -48, E: -44). I am currently getting (non-nan) min and max values of 1149041371.0 and 1230554567.0; however, the product information says that the valid min and max should be 0 and 40,000, respectively, so my values seem off by around a factor of 10^6.

The product information says that there should be no scaling applied (scaleFactor = 1, addOffset = 0), and the same type of processing works for other chlorophyll/ phytoplankton products, including chlor_a, chl_gsm, and picoeukaryotes_hirata.

Is there some sort of scaling or processing that needs to be done here that I am missing?

Hi there,

We did find an scaling issue with Moana products that were recently switched from float to integer. A fix is under way.

Best,
