SSL Certificate Error (certificate has expired) when downloading Sentinel-1 data from datapool.asf.alaska.edu

Hello,
I am unable to download Sentinel-1 GRD data due to a persistent SSL certificate verification error.
Error message:
textURL Error (from GET): <urlopen error [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed: certificate has expired (_ssl.c:1020)>

In browser I get: ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID
What I have already tried:
-Updated certifi package (pip install --upgrade certifi)
-Reinstalled system CA certificates
-Verified system date and time are correct
-Tried different browsers and Python environments

Access method: Python (urllib / asf_search), also reproduced in browser
Date/Time of issue: June 27, 2026 (ongoing for the last few days)
Data product: Sentinel-1 GRD (EW), Level-1
I checked the Earthdata Alerts page and the forum, but did not find any current outage related to this SSL issue.
Any help or information about possible certificate changes on the ASF side would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, no solution but we have also been experiencing the same issue "ERROR: The certificate of ‘datapool.asf.alaska.edu’ is not trusted.
ERROR: The certificate of ‘datapool.asf.alaska.edu’ has expired.
The certificate has expired"

The SSL certificate for datapool.asf.alaska.edu expired last weekend, which affected the ASF download service. The certificate has been renewed and redeployed, and the distribution system is back online.
