The ASDC Releases BalNeO Data

The Atmospheric Science Data Center (ASDC) has released data for the Balloon Network for Stratospheric Aerosol Observations (BalNeO) field campaign. BalNeO aims to fill in gaps that are left by the limited vertical, horizonal, and temporal resolutions of satellite observations as well as to improve the coverage of in-situ measurements of aerosol concentration that are usually focused on the northern hemisphere with fewer measurements over tropical regions. To accomplish this, the campaign brought together research laboratories from the United States, Brazil, France, and India to profile aerosol concentrations from the ground to the stratosphere. BalNeO observations come from various field campaigns, which provide insights on stratospheric aerosol variability and its impact on climate.
