The Atmospheric Science Data Center (ASDC) has released data for the Subsonic Aircraft Contrail and Cloud Effects Special Study (SUCCESS) field campaign. SUCCESS was conducted from April 8 – May 10, 1996, in Salina, Kansas. The primary objective of SUCCESS was to improve the understanding of the radiative properties of cirrus clouds and contrails and their impact on Earth’s radiation budget. The NASA DC-8, ER-2, T-39, and B-757 aircraft were the primary platforms used during this campaign, each with its own payload of instruments. Ground stations and the Egret and Twin Otter (TO) aircraft from the Department of Energy (DOE) were also used and equipped with remote sensing instrumentation. Data for SUCCESS is available via Earthdata Search.
