Spire AIS data through CSDA

by edkyzivat » Thu Aug 13, 2026 10:39 am America/New_York

Question for any Spire users out there. I noticed AIS ship tracking data is listed on the Commercial Smallsat Data Acquisition (CSDA) site as a product payload, but not as a CSDA product on their website [https://spire.com/federal/nasa/nasa-csda-program-product-summaries/]. Does anyone know if the CSDA program can provide access to this type of data? I have query out to CSDA support, and I will post the answer here.

The CSDA program does not offer access to Spire's AIS ship-tracking data. It looks like Spire carries multiple payloads on a single platform, including AIS and aviation receivers alongside scientific sensors, which is why it appears in general hardware listings, but it is not a part of NASA's dataset agreement.
