Question about lat and lon variables in VNP46A1/A2 products

I am currently conducting a relatively fine-scale research using the NASA Black Marble daily products VNP46A1 and VNP46A2 (HDF-EOS5 format).
In these files, there are lat and lon variables. For a given grid cell that has corresponding lat, lon, and NTL values, I would like to confirm:

Does the NTL value correspond to the location of (lon, lat),

or does it correspond to a shifted position such as (lon + half grid size, lat – half grid size)?

In other words, do the stored lat and lon represent the center of the grid cell, or a corner (for example, the upper-left corner)?
