Deposition data

by pritijadhav » Mon Sep 07, 2026 4:17 am America/New_York

Should total MERRA-2 black-carbon surface deposition be calculated from four variables (BCDP001/002 + BCWT001/002), or should BCSD001/002 sedimentation also be included, and would including them cause double counting?

Dear User,

Here is a response from the GMAO team:

Total loss = BCDP001 + BCDP002 + BCSD001 + BCSD002 + BCWT001 + BCWT002 + BCSV001 + BCSV002.

Nothing is double counted by using all of the terms in this equation for the total loss.
