NASA's Atmospheric Science Data Center
(ASDC) has released the Edition2B Clouds and the Earth's Radiant Energy System
(CERES) Single Scanner Footprint (SSF) Level 2 data product from the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership
(NPP) satellite. This product contains instantaneous CERES Flight Model 5
(CERES-FM5) Earth viewing footprints of filtered and unfiltered radiances (total, shortwave, longwave, and window channels) converted to Top of Atmosphere (ToA) fluxes. It also includes Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite
(VIIRS) radiances, aerosols, and cloud properties, as well as meteorological information from the Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO)’s Modern-Era Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications, Version 2 (MERRA-2) data product. The data are distributed in hourly files containing approximately six-tenths of an orbit.
The CERES project is a key Earth Observing System (EOS) program component whose primary objective is to provide radiometric measurements of the Earth's atmosphere. NASA launched the CERES Flight Model 5 (FM-5) and VIIRS instruments aboard the Suomi NPP satellite on October 28, 2011.
