Alternate sources of PACE OCI L1 data

by alaroy » Wed Oct 07, 2026 11:31 am America/New_York

By way of background we have a product that requires processing L1 data to L2 in house.

Historically we have used LANCE as a backup source of L1 data for the MODIS and VIIRS instruments for instances where the oceandata system is unavailable.

Are there any alternative public sources of PACE OCI L1 data, please?

Thank you in advance for your assistance with this!

The definitive source for PACE data (in fact, ALL publicly accessible Earth science data from NASA) is the Earthdata Archive, with Earthdata Search being the primary interface into that archive. All datasets have landing pages on the Earthdata website with pointers to the various data access methods for each. The PACE L1B data set landing page is found here: https://dx.doi.org/10.5067/PACE/OCI/L1B/SCI/3, while it's Earthdata Search endpoint is https://search.earthdata.nasa.gov/search?q=PACE_OCI_L1B_SCI

NASA's Common Metadata Repository (CMR) offers an API for scripting data discovery.

NASA Earthdata offers a python library, earthaccess, that serves as an interface to CMR for searching and downloading from the archive.

Sean
