Subscription issues?

by tobyw » Tue Aug 22, 2017 5:41 pm America/New_York

Hi -
I recently created two new data subscriptions.  I have done this many times in the past, but had surprising difficulty this time.  Nevertheless, they do appear when I view my subscriptions (Request ID 2983 & 2984), but I have not received any confirmation emails, nor any instructions for data access, etc.  I browsed the ftp site (samoa) and I see my name with an older subscription, but nothing else.  Did I do something wrong (probably:)?  These were both extracted subscriptions (1 for MODISA and 1 for VIIRS).

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks,
\toby (westberry)

Subscription issues?

by lapucci » Wed Aug 23, 2017 6:21 am America/New_York

Hi Toby and all,
I am experiencing the same problems mentioned by Toby, in fact last July I requested three subscriptions for VIIRS data (Request ID 2962, 2963, 2964)  but I haven't received any confirmation emails and I can't find my name in the VIIRS folder (ftp://samoa.gsfc.nasa.gov/subscriptions/VIIRS/XM/). I can see the subscriptions in the request list (https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/subscriptions/list).
I need to get the ftp accee soon, could you please help me?
Thank you in advance
Chiara

Request ID 2962, 2963, 2964 are not configured for FTP access. They only have the mail option selected. You can modify that setting by clicking on the subscription id on https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/subscriptions/list

I will look into why you are not receiving mail. Have you checked that they are not being filtered as spam?

Request ID 2983 & 2984 are not configured for FTP distribution. They are set for email only.

Tommy,

thank you for your quick reply, I have just modified the ID settings.
The emails I was supposed to receive were not filtered as spam.

I have another question for you: I am having troubles requesting data by the level 1 and 2 browser page (https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi/browse.pl?sen=am), I receive the email asking to confirm the request, which I do,  but then I get no other mail (not even filterd as spam). This way had always worked for me until this week. Could you please help me?

Thanks again

Chiara

I am looking into the email issues. You can always access your data orders through the Order Manager web interface:
https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/odps/orders/

OK thanks.  When you say "configured for FTP access", are you referring to the "Map distribution method" buttons at the bottom of the sensor tab in the request form?  If so, I thought that was preference for how the mapped images (.png) were distributed?  Anyway, I changed it accordingly.  Have still not received any emails (I looked in spam folder(s)).  Also, when I looked for my orders on the Order Manager web page (oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/odps/orders), I see no active orders.

Thanks again,

Subscription issues?

We are working on the email problem.

These are Subscriptions, so you can access them through the Subscription Manager

https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/subscriptions/

Looking at both subscriptions, you have not requested any Level 1 or Level 2 data - just maps.

See the  'NetCDF/HDF Data Files' section

Yes the distribution option is for the maps.  I mentioned that because you only requested maps.

Extracted NetCDF files must be accessed via FTP.

Thanks for the help, not sure why this has proven so difficult.
Can you please ensure that I have selected L2 data (extracted!) properly on those requests?
It still seems like there is something weird going on with my selections.  Every time I return
to edit the subscription(s), the L2 boxes are unchecked, even though it says "Subscription modified
successfully" after I submit edits.

Sorry for the trouble,
