Does this still happen on Wednesdays? I have been unable to access e4ftl01.cr.usgs.gov all day (e4ftl01.cr.usgs.gov refused to connect). Should I assume that is due to maintenance?

Hi @erin_carroll Yes, the LP DAAC has planned maintenance that occurs on Wednesdays between 8 am - 12 pm central. Depending on the type of maintenance that is occurring data access, tools and/or the LP DAAC website may be down for a period of time. If something is not working and it is a Wednesday it is most likely related to this planned maintenance period. We suggest trying again later in the day or the next day. If you are still experiencing issues that evening or Thursday-Tuesday please feel free to report those issues to the LP DAAC's user services team or by posting here on the forum.

I'm getting a error 404 on URLs like https://e4ftl01.cr.usgs.gov/DP133/SRTM/SRTMGL1.003/2000.02.11/S44W066.SRTMGL1.hgt.zip
for some days, and it was working like a charm for months. Did I miss some changes ?

I have the same problem. Tried the solution with the MEASURES Folder. The named link in the post above with S44W060 works, but I need files between N43W059 and N48W067, get always a 404 error. Searched threw the folder. In the area I'm looking there are only jpg-files, but not the hgt.zip files

It looks like N43W059 might not exist within the grid. Have you used this tile before? Based on this graph, https://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/srtm/images/SRTM_2-24-2016.gif I don't believe that tile exists.

Thanks a lot! I got my data now and the process is started, so the files and the content looks valid.

The missing files are not a problem in my case, I take then another one over the ocean (in this case N44W060), copy and rename it to the missing files. That works good in my context.

It will take some days, then virtual gliding will be possible over Nova Scotia too ;-)

Hi @firedog616 A few MEaSUREs and Community datasets were removed from the LP DAAC Data Pool on December 3, 2025. The LP DAAC is moving its data to the cloud. As datasets are migrated to the cloud, they will be removed from the Data Pool. Once all data have been removed from the data pool the LP DAAC Data Pool will be retired. Please see this announcement for more details on where to find the SRTM data: https://www.earthdata.nasa.gov/data/alerts-outages/lp-daac-discontinues-data-pool-distribution-aster-gdem-measures-community Depending on your use case, if you haven't already checked out AppEEARS I highly recommend doing so as it will do a lot of the pre-processing of data for you.
