What is the backscattering spectral parameter? It has units of m-1 nm-1 and varies from -1 to 1. Is this related to the dimensionless exponent of the power law wavelength dependence? Thanks.

Hi James,

The "backscattering spectral parameter" product is the same as the power law exponent of the backscattering coefficient, which as you correctly note should be dimensionless. I found that the product.xml file, which assigns metadata to the netcdf file, has an incorrect entry resulting in the assigned units of m^-1 nm^-1.  Thanks for bringing this to our attention and I'm sorry this has caused confusion, we will go ahead and make the necessary fix.

Best regards,
Lachlan
