Hi, I cannot download MODIS data from oceandata and even cannot visit oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov if I do not use VPN. I guess my IP is blocked by the FTP server. Can you help me to remove the status of be blocked? My IP is xx.xxx.xx.xx and the tracert report is in the accessory. Before be blocked, my downloading speed of MODIS data is quickly (even 3~4 MB/s), is that the reason of the rejection by the FTP server? Thank you very much. Best Wishes Ge

hi, tintinabula Thank you very much. It still cannot donwload data from oceandata. Can you help me to remove the status of being blocked? Should I limit the download speed if it has been normal to avoid this issue? I really appreciate it. Best Wishes Ge

Hello.
I am trying to download modis L1A data and it seems that I cannot 1. Download data from 2002 to present if I want to 2. Download data from a user specified region (as opposed to the predefined regions)
I get this error
.:. ERROR .:. OceanColor Biology Processing Group (OBPG)
We are sorry but an error has occurred. Please use the back button in your browser to return to the previous page or use the link below to return to the Ocean Color home page.
Could you please be more specific about which pages you were trying to access and what steps you followed that got you the error page, so that we can try to reproduce the problem on our end?

Hello.
Thank you for your prompt reply.
- I got to https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi/browse.pl?sen=am - My interest is in MODIS "Aqua". I basically leave everything unchanged except time and my AOI. - On time, I am interested with data from 2002 to present. I first clicked on "2002" to activate the "Mission" button after the page reloads since it is not active the first time you load the page. - I then add my lat lon of my AOI (LAT: 10, -20, LON: 30, 70) which is the Kenyan Coast and I click on "Find Swaths".
I can't get past this point, and after a moment of waiting I get the dreadful error.
Query for a smaller time period or a smaller region. Searching for 15 years of 5 minute granules over such a large region takes a long time (with the current browser DB code). The query is being terminated because it it exceeding the timeout limit on the server.
Oops, my previous reply was incorrect since I forgot to include the region of interest. I tried shorter and shorter periods and finally got six months to work. (A year and a half still did not work.)
