Is the Viirs L3 processing ok?   There are gaps in the May 2017 daily L3 data.    Yet, dates that are missing L3 data have L2 available.    The browse tool says May 3-10, 20-28  are "Not Available".

An example

however there is L2 for May 6

This appears to be a problem with the images in the L3 browser. The VIIRS L3 production is up to date. 
I'll notify the web admins of the problem. Try your query again tomorrow.

If I use the file search tool I can see all the files without a gap, but there are gaps with the L3 browser or the direct access  https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/VIIRS/Binned/Daily/SNPP/2017/

In the direct access the file dates are steady to 5/20/17 then they jump to 5/30/17.  Maybe the files are around (the file search files them) but they haven't made to to the direct access area or to where the L3 browser looks.
