When you encounter connection problems it is good practice to provide lots of detail: which file failed (with date and time) , the program and version used, and your OS version. Some of us have been caught out by buggy vendor updates (fedora 25 python ssl worked, but fails on fedora 26), so you may need to check your software. The openssl cookbook shows how to use openssl to check that your openssl library is working with the NASA servers. Your client software should have options to report more details of the connection progress.
You should use tcptraceroute and port 443 for https servers:
$ tcptraceroute oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov 443 Selected device wlan0, address xx.xxx.xx.xx, port 49111 for outgoing packets Tracing the path to oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov (xx.xxx.xx.xx) on TCP port 443 (https), 30 hops max 1 xx.xxx.xx.xx 2.936 ms 0.762 ms 1.037 ms 2 * * * [...] 18 oceancolor.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov (xx.xxx.xx.xx) [open] 44.798 ms 43.923 ms 42.484 ms and $ tcptraceroute oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov 443led, Selected device wlan0, address xx.xxx.xx.xx, port 46626 for outgoing packets Tracing the path to oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov (xx.xxx.xx.xx) on TCP port 443 (https), 30 hops max 1 xx.xxx.xx.xx 2.895 ms 0.713 ms 0.737 ms 2 * * * [...] 18 gs6142obpg1020.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov (xx.xxx.xx.xx) [open] 154.427 ms 154.978 ms 129.799 ms

Hi, gnwiii
I think it is blocked by the website beacuse I cannot download the data using windows 10. If I use the VPN, I can download the data and process the images.
