expired browse state

by fields » Wed May 27, 2020 2:53 pm America/New_York

I am using the L2 Browse ordering tool and I am getting this message
"The state information about your browse session has expired from our system. You will need to re-enter your search criteria if you wish to continue browsing. "
I have tried reentering a few times. I get cut off too early to place my order.  I am confused about what I did to get this message.

The link I am on is https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi/browse.pl?sub=level1or2list&per=MO&day=18353&prm=CHL&set=10&mon=18353&sen=amod@tmod@vrsn@vrj1&rad=0&frc=0&n=54&s=44&w=-24.2&e=-8.8&id=1590604805.1363&cn=54.99&cs=42.43&cw=-26.55&ce=-7.56&dnm=D&ndx=149&tog=1

maybe related - I recently removed cookies from  OC and  urs.earthdata.nasa.gov.   I was having issues with the earthdata authentication and they recommended I remove the cookies.

Thanks
Erik

Thanks for the reply.  Same  expired state issue.    I used a slightly different query, the month of may, instead of apr.

https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi/browse.pl?sub=level1or2list&per=MO&day=18383&prm=CHL&set=10&mon=18353&sen=amod@tmod@vrsn@vrj1&rad=0&frc=0&n=54&s=44&w=-24.2&e=-8.8&id=1590672421.4999&cn=54.99&cs=42.43&cw=-26.55&ce=-7.56&dnm=D&ndx=369&tog=1

I have tired this on firefox and chrome.

I get realtime subscription images, when they look promising coveragewise, I order the L2s.  Because of earthdata authentication issues I fell behind.  Now this.

Erik,
Are you manually searching using the L1/2 browser, or are you attempting to reuse the URL that contains a previous search?

Hi Sean.  Thanks for the reply. I recall trying both.  I will start from scratch to ensure a clean slate.

Note I am not using the url at a template.  It fails, sometimes reloading works or I would paste the url into a different browser application (I was trying different things).  I just used the URL because it stored the search parameters.

OK, just so you know, the id field (e.g id=1590672421.4999) should not be used in subsequent queries.  It's used as a key to what amounts to a "server side cookie".  subsequent sessions may land on a different backend server and not have access to this "cookie" which will result in the error you are experiencing.

Thanks.  I will submit an order soon and hopefully won't get an expired  message.  Thanks for letting me know about the id field.

Working like a charm again.  I submitted two orders without any troubles.  Sorry.

Sean et al,
I got the expired browse state after a query from scratch, no recycled URL.  Worked fine for a day or so.     Got any other scenarios that would pop the expired state message?  I am not doing any thing new here-  queries and ordering that I have done for years.   No one else getting this message, I am the problem user?

So far you are the only one to report the problem....doesn't mean it's unique to you, though....or does it...

Can you provide your IP and the time of the issue?

Sean
