Seadas 8 not responding after install
I've tried to install Seadas 8 multiple times but on opening it up (whether from command line or clicking on the file in desktop) the GUI comes up and freezes when I try to click anything on that little window asking about updating my software. I cannot figure out how to get past this stage, as you're forced to interact with this window and it does not respond to anything. What should I do?

Re: Seadas 8 not responding after install
After quitting seadas 8, did you try to open it again? Did it freeze again once you clicked "No"?
What does it say when you type "ls -al ~/.seadas8" on command line?

Re: Seadas 8 not responding after install
Yes, I tried to force quit and re-open many times. The problem was that the window didn't even respond when I tried to click on either "No", "Yes" or the red "x". I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and still have the same problem.
When I type "ls -al ~/.seadas8" on the command line, this is what I get:
total 8
drwxr-xr-x 10 lcarberry staff 340 Apr 9 12:58 .
drwxr-xr-x+ 49 lcarberry staff 1666 Apr 9 13:00 ..

Re: Seadas 8 not responding after install
We are scratching our heads. The lock file looks suspicious. I wonder what is in that file.
You can try "rm ~/.seadas8/lock" before you attempt to open seadas8 on the command line. If frozen again, "ls -al ~/.seadas8" and check if the lock file show up.
Or you can also try "rm -rf ~/.seadas8" before you attempt to open seadas8 on the command line. If frozen again, "ls -al ~/.seadas8" and check if the lock file show up.

Re: Seadas 8 not responding after install
I tried both, and the lock file appears afterwards both times. Any other suggestions? This seems strange! Thank you for your help.

Re: Seadas 8 not responding after install
Santa Barbara, CA.
Is it possible there are some old SeaDAS 7 files that I didn't properly uninstall that are getting in the way? I deleted what I could find of seadas 7 on my computer before I installed 8.

SeaDAS 7 should not be the problem. I have both SeaDAS 7 and 8 on my Mac.
What operating system are you using?

Re: Seadas 8 not responding after install
We've not been able to replicate the problem you are seeing. If it's an OS-related issue, it will be quite difficult since the oldest macOS to which we have access is 10.15.7. As you indicated, you are aware that SeaDAS can be launched from a terminal command line. Please try that again, and post the terminal output (copy and paste to a text file) as an attachment (in the post composition page there is an "Attachments" tab below the text entry box)...hopefully, there will be some helpful information there...
