For the 2010_07_01 MOD09GQ image, in both v6 and v61, there is a large shift relative to the basemap around 39.5E 57.8N

See screenshot where the river Volga on the basemap is shifted relative to the image.

Hi,
Do you have the granule ID(s) of the tiles involved? Did you get the data from the Earthengine or from the LPDAAC: https://e4ftl01.cr.usgs.gov/MOLT/MOD09G ... 010.07.01/
Thanks,
Brett

Brett - the granule is /namespace/gestalt/modis/MOD09GQ.006/2010.07.01/MOD09GQ.A2010182.h20v03.006.2015208185542.hdf, taken from LP DAAC

Hi Simon,
Can you give me the Lat/Long of the area of the Volga River the picture represents? I would like to look at several MOD09GQ tiles for that area to see if they differ from one another. Did you notice that all MODIS tiles from that H/V were offset or just that one. If they are all offset with the earthengine image I would suspect the projection and datum are different then it really isn't an issue. Do you know the projection and datum of the Earthengine image, if it is different from the MODIS Sinusoidal, a shift would be somewhat normal?
Thanks,
Brett

Brett,

The location is 39.502 N 57.8569 E . The projection is MODIS sinusoidal.

Images on other dates don't have this problem.
