How can I get fire count data to download?

by dagmarsawayn » Fri Dec 24, 2021 11:02 am America/New_York

Hello,

I searched the whole of your web service but was not able to download FIRE COUNTS for my required custom region and custom timeline.

Can you please direct me to the same.?

Note:- I don't want FRP, Brightness, etc which is already there in CSV files
What I want is 'No. of fire counts'

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in FIRMS. Just to clarify, if you are referring to the pixel counts of active fire detections by 0.25 x 0.25 degree grid in the FIRMS fire map (Gridded Fire Hotspots), those pixel count summaries by grid cell are for display purposes and not available to download from the map viewer or elsewhere in FIRMS. There is a MODIS climate model grid (CMG) product that summarizes active global fire detections by 0.25 x 0.25 degree grid on a monthly and 8 day basis. To my knowledge, a similar CMG product for VIIRS active fire detection data is not available yet.

Please see the MODIS and VIIRS active fire detection user guides at the links below for more information on the active fire CMG products. Also provided is a link from the FIRMS FAQs that provides additional information about the MODIS active fire CMG products.

Thanks!
