geoMeta and geoMetaVIIRS folder

by marcolaiolo » Fri Feb 18, 2022 5:53 am America/New_York

Dear Service,
since yesterday I note, new, big issues on the content of geoMeta and geoMetaVIIRS (previously named geoJPSS!). By the manual inspection of .txt file it can be possible note that these 2 folder showed information about each Granule wrong. Each Granule (i.e. image) in fact, show the Geographic Information of the last acquired image.
Please see:
https://ladsweb.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/archive/geoMeta/61/AQUA/2019/MYD03_2019-01-01.txt
and here, as an example
[link=] //ladsweb.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/archive/geoMetaVIIRS/5110/NPP/2012/VNP03MOD_2012-01-19.txt

This kind of problem makes it impossible for an automatic selection, and following downloads and processing of the images acquired on a specific site.
Additionally, I want to highlight that this kind of problem also persist, since about one month, in the geoMetaMODIS and geoMetaVIIRS folder in the nrt3 LANCE system.
Below an example:
https://nrt3.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/api/v2/content/archives/geoMetaMODIS/61/TERRA/2019/MOD03_2019-01-01.txt

Please, you can inform your users about timing of problem resolution about this source that is essential for my kind of analysis and work!
Lastly, please, consider that the construction of a right folder construction of the daily.txt clear and effective represent an essential tool for my work.
Sincerely,
Marco Laiolo

Dear Marco Laiolo,
This is a bug and our web team is working to fix it.
Thanks very much for your suggestions. We do inform our users about any issue as soon as we become aware of it. However, this is the first time that there is an issue with geoMeta since we started generating these and you are the first one who noticed it.

Dear LAADS User Services,
Thank you! In the past days I see that all the geoMeta subfolders of the LAADS service are correct and the problem, even if with name changing (i.e. yesterday from geoMetaVIIRS to geoMetaJPSS).

Currently, I only notice that persist the problem regarding geoMetaVIIRS and geoMetaMODIS folders of the
"nrt" system are not updated, as you can see here:
https://nrt3.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/archive/geoMetaVIIRS/5200/NOAA-20/2022 [last .txt; VJ103MOD_NRT_2022-01-24.txt]
https://nrt3.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/archive/geoMetaVIIRS/5001/NPP/2022 [last .txt;
VNP03MOD_NRT_2022-02-15.txt].

However, in this view, I already wrote to MODAPS Support for this issue (without response at the moment) and
I suppose that this problem it is beyond your service and, in this case, I want only inform you about this.

Thank you again for your support and your work.
Sincerely,
Marco Laiolo
