NSIDC request for new platform keyword

by windnage » Wed Mar 30, 2022 7:20 pm America/New_York

Hello,

NSIDC would like to request the addition of a new platform keyword to the platform list. We would like to request the addition of the generic platform "airplane" under the following hierarchy:

Air-based Platforms > Jet > > Airplane [Basis > Category > Sub_Category > Short_Name]
Short name: Airplane
Long name: Airplane

A need for a generic airplane platform has become apparent.

This seems to be in line with other generic platforms that already exist in the GCMD platforms keywords list such as satellites and ships. For example:
Space-based Platforms > Earth Observation Satellites > > SATELLITES
Water-based Platforms > Vessels > Surface > Ships

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best,
Ann

The keyword has been added and will be released to production during the next keyword release on 4/8/22.
