Accessing and downloading large volumes of MERRA-2 data

To download the time-aggregated data into a single file, follow the instructions in this data How-to document:
How to Obtain a Spatially Subsetted Time Series using TDS
Due to the large volume of over 40 years of data, we recommend downloading one variable at a time. In addition:
a) select 'add lon/lat variable' to make the file CF-compliant
b) select data format as 'netcdf'.
If the data volume is too large, you may try to split the time series into 2 or 3 periods.
The data may be concatenated by using NCO commands; please read:
