Hello,

NSIDC would like to request the addition of a new science keyword to the science keywords list. We would like to request the addition of “ice draft” under the following hierarchy:

EARTH SCIENCE >> CRYOSPHERE >> SEA ICE >> ICE DRAFT [Category >> Topic >> Term >> Variable_Level_1]
Short name: Ice Draft
Long name: Ice Draft

This keyword is not currently in the science keyword list and is a common topic used in sea ice research.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for the keyword request. Can you please provide a definition and reference for the keyword?

Yes, not a problem.

Definition: Ice draft is a measurement of the ice thickness below the waterline and often serves as a close proxy for total ice thickness. (from https://www.britannica.com/topic/ice-draft).

We also have Sea Ice under Oceans (https://gcmd.earthdata.nasa.gov/KeywordViewer/scheme/all/d73e969a-4b66-4713-8d63-fa3cbb1e25e3?gtm_keyword=SEA%20ICE&gtm_scheme=Earth%20Science) so I recommend that we add the keyword there as well.

Two science keywords have been added
