GEDI .h5 downloads from datapool very slow

I'm following the tutorials in the e-learning section of LP DAAC (e.g. https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/resources/e-learning/spatial-querying-of-gedi-version-2-data-in-python/). Everything is working fine but when it comes to downloading .h5 sub orbital files the download speeds are very slow (~200kB/sec). I've tried using the direct links (e.g. https://e4ftl01.cr.usgs.gov//GEDI_L1_L2/GEDI/GEDI02_B.002/2019.08.01/GEDI02_B_2019213043207_O03592_03_T01383_02_003_01_V002.h5)

Is there a quicker way to download these?

I am encountering the same issue of slow downloading of data.

I would appreciate it if anyone has figured out why the script based *.h5 data download speed is too slow. @Ojaybee have you found the solution to this?

Hello
I also had a problem with too slow download speed of GEDI data.
I have contacted URS Support and will share when I get a reply.

I received the following contact from my LPDAAC representative.

#################################
Sorry for the slowness, I am not sure if there is much we can do to speed it up. It could be any of several things going on. I have noticed traffic is a little heavier then normal on the server, that is somewhat rare during this time of summer.
Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. I was downloading my requests (33 files). Using R took more than a day (8 hrs) to download 5 files and the connection was broken frequently. Today I am using python to do the same, although, it shows some certification issues warning for urllib, the download was much faster. However, based on the file size, this speed is slow as well (a single file takes more than 10 minutes)

Thanks for the reply.

Thank you,
