Missing attitude files!

by cliffordoo » Tue Aug 02, 2022 9:43 pm America/New_York

Hi Everyone,

I am working with L1A files from the ocean color web. They are from 2008. There seems to some trouble accessing ancillary files for modis_GEO.py. Is this a problem on my end or are the files acutally missing

"Missing attitude files!
Failed to identify/retrieve attitude/ephemeris required to geolocate"

Thanks for you help.

Andy

I am also facing the same issue. I am using SeaDAS 7.5.3. I have also tried updating Ocssw Processor from GUI using Clean Install option. But the issue still persists.

Same here. modis_atteph command returns neither attitude nor ephemeris

$ modis_atteph --disable-download -m aqua -s 2022210120001 -r --ancdb=/tmp/junk.db
/tmp/junk.db

I tried modis_GEO.py (SeaDAS-7.5.3) on A2022214094500.L1A_LAC. It did get att/eph files, but failed at the last minute --

However, modis_GEO (SeaDAS-8.2.0, OCSSW V2022.0) on A2022214094500.L1A_LAC succeeded. Also, now modis GEO files are available here --https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/directdataaccess/Geo-Location/Aqua-MODIS/2022/214/

Now the issue is Percent valid data (0.00) is less than threshold (whatever is set as threshold)

o-mc@ChloroGIN$ modis_GEO.py $BASE.L1A_LAC -o $BASE.GEO --refreshDB --verbose --enable-dem --threshold=95

I am using SeaDAS 7.5.3. And for now, there are limitations towards shifting to SeaDAS 8.

Here is the fix for the issue of "Percent valid data (0.00) is less than threshold". Please download https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/ocssw/de200.eos and replace /home/o-mc/SeaDAS7.5/ocssw/share/modis/static/de200.eos with it. You should be able to run modis_GEO.py then.

Hi all,
I am having the same problem with missing att and eph files using modis_GEO. I have recently updated OCSSW to V2023.2.
I have tried running again

Code: Select all

install_ocssw --install_dir $HOME/ocssw --tag V2023.2 --modisa
but it didn't help.

The scene I am trying to process are more than a week old, so I don't think this post viewtopic.php?t=3278 and this one viewtopic.php?t=1818 are applicable to my case.

What I can say is that it was working fine with OCSSW V2022.3, not sure it is related, but it might.
An example of image that doesn't work: A2023164100000.L1A_LAC

I have tried to clear the ancillary files and databases but no success. It is important to note that modis_GEO works to process MODIS_TERRA data.

Thank you,
Guillaume
