MODIS MOD06 cloud top temperature

by sarahkh123 » Tue Nov 01, 2022 3:42 pm America/New_York

Hi,
We are evaluating MOD06 cloud top temperature for use within our study that involves accounting for greenhouse gases emissivities (particularly CO2). I know MOD06 product uses absorption bands in the CO2 slicing method (I have read the technical document). So then if we were to use cloud top temperature in our study, would it be correct to say that this temperature accounts for atmospheric green house gases emissivities?

Yes. The CO2 amounts in the atmosphere have been adjusted on a monthly basis in the MOD06 algorithm. A sinusoidal CO2 increase has been incorporated since collect 6. Hope this answers your question.
