LP DAAC Releases G-LiHT Metrics Product

by LP DAAC - jwilson » Fri Dec 02, 2022 11:37 am America/New_York

The LP DAAC is pleased to announce the availability of Goddard’s LiDAR, Hyperspectral, and Thermal Imager (G-LiHT) Metrics (GLMETRICS) data product.

The G-LiHT mission utilizes a portable, airborne imaging system that aims to simultaneously map the composition, structure, and function of terrestrial ecosystems. G-LiHT primarily focuses on a broad diversity of forest communities and ecoregions in North America, mapping aerial swaths over the Conterminous United States, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.

The purpose of G-LiHT’s Metrics data product is to provide common lidar height and density metrics and return statistics for more than 80 science data set layers. Included in the product are mean, standard deviation, and percentile information for ground, tree, and shrub data as well as kurtosis and skew of return heights. Data is provided at 13 meter resolution.

A citation containing the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for the G-LiHT dataset is provided below.

The 13 meter resolution data are available for download through Data Pool and NASA’s Earthdata Search.
