seadas 8.2

by claraclarita » Sun Dec 25, 2022 5:47 pm America/New_York

hi everyone. so this always happened when i wanted to do the coastline mask towards my february 2017 chlorophyll-a data. it always has been only this data whilst the other 6 months in 2017 had a smooth extraction when i did the coastline mask and i got the txt data without getting the bug like this. it happened only a few times but after i restarted my laptop, it continued to work like fine. except with my february 2017 chlorophyll-a data, it has been almost more than a week since i tried to mask this data and restart my laptop to do all over again but its still like this. is the problem came from my laptop specs or from the seadas itself? is it because i did it in seadas 8.2 while now there's a newer version?

Do you mean CoastlineLandWaterMasks stuck on AQUA_MODIS.20170201_20170228.L3m.MO.CHL.chlor_a.4km.nc, but worked fine with other 11 months in 2017?

What happened after you restarted your laptop?

In my case, CoastlineLandWaterMasks got stuck on AQUA_MODIS.20170201_20170228.L3m.MO.CHL.chlor_a.4km.nc (or maybe takes very long to finish), but it succeeded when I chose 10km for world source data. See the screenshot.

After I restarted SeaDAS (not laptop), CoastlineLandWaterMasks succeeded on AQUA_MODIS.20170201_20170228.L3m.MO.CHL.chlor_a.4km.nc. It seems that it takes longer to do CoastlineLandWaterMasks on AQUA_MODIS.20170201_20170228.L3m.MO.CHL.chlor_a.4km.nc than AQUA_MODIS.20170301_20170331.L3m.MO.CHL.chlor_a.4km.nc.

Please try CoastlineLandWaterMasks on AQUA_MODIS.20170201_20170228.L3m.MO.CHL.chlor_a.4km.nc again with 10km for world source data. Also wait longer for CoastlineLandWaterMasks on AQUA_MODIS.20170201_20170228.L3m.MO.CHL.chlor_a.4km.nc to finish when you chose 1km for world source data.

I see the same issue in SeaDAS 8.3 on a linux desktop, so this looks like a non-responding server.

After SeaDAS freezes doing CoastlineLandWaterMasks, you should restart SeaDAS. Before you do CoastlineLandWaterMasks again, try to optimize VM Parameters and/or cache size by pressing the Compute button in the Performance Optimizer Smart Configurator Window, accessed through SeaDAS -> Preferences -> Performance
