GES DISC Science Keyword Request for TROPESS

Good afternoon -

GES DISC is requesting three new science keywords to support the new TROPESS mission.
"EARTH SCIENCE > ATMOSPHERE > AEROSOLS > AMMONIUM AEROSOLS"
"EARTH SCIENCE > ATMOSPHERE > AEROSOLS > NITRATE AEROSOLS"
"EARTH SCIENCE > ATMOSPHERE > AEROSOLS > SULFATE AEROSOLS"

This allows just a single keyword rather than using, for example, two separate aerosols and nitrates keywords.

Note there are already the following for sulfates (SO42-) and nitrates (NO3-), but there is none for ammonium (NH4+) [not to be confused with ammonia NH3]:
"EARTH SCIENCE > ATMOSPHERE > AEROSOLS > SULFATE PARTICLES"
"EARTH SCIENCE > ATMOSPHERE > AEROSOLS > NITRATE PARTICLES"

Thank you!

Hi Carlee, I created a ticket for your keyword request. https://bugs.earthdata.nasa.gov/browse/CMRSCI-4341

@cloeser I think "AMMONIUM AEROSOLS" is good. I think having "NITRATE AEROSOLS" alongside "NITRATE PARTICLES" and "SULFATE AEROSOLS" alongside "SULFATE PARTICLES" could be confusing. How are you defining those?

Response from TROPESS mission lead: "I think they can be called either ammonium, nitrate, sulfate particles or ammonium, nitrate, sulfate aerosols. You can decide if you prefer particles (maybe precedent with existing), or aerosols or use of both. An aerosol is just a particle suspended in a gas."

@cloeser I recommend that we do not add "NITRATE AEROSOLS" and "SULFATE AEROSOLS" as it overlaps with the existing keywords "SULFATE PARTICLES" and "NITRATE PARTICLES" which both Aerosols. Would it be acceptable to Tropess?
