OBDAAC Subscriptions issue

by alaroy » Wed Feb 01, 2023 10:03 pm America/New_York

Is there a problem with the subscriptions on OBDAAC?

We haven't gotten any new L2 files since 2023-01-31 at 12:28 UTC. This includes several permutations of MODIS, both VIIRS instruments, Plankton and SST.

If OBPG not already aware of this could someone please investigate? Thank you!

Can you provide at least one of the affected subscription IDs?

Thanks,
Tommy

Tommy,

Yes that would probably help! Sorry I didn't think of that when originally posting.

Some affected subscription ID's are:
2178
2179
2180
2348
2908
2909

Thank you in advance for looking at it!

Andrew,

It seems you are not confirming your subscriptions. The set you provided IDs for expired on Feb 1. These can be confirmed via the Subscriptions Dashboard.

Code: Select all

 sub_id expire_date
 ----------- -----------------------
        2178 2023-02-01 00:00:00.000
        2179 2023-02-01 00:00:00.000
        2180 2023-02-01 00:00:00.000
        2348 2023-02-01 00:00:00.000
        2908 2023-02-01 00:00:00.000
        2909 2023-02-01 00:00:00.000

Those subscriptions have expired and were not renewed:

sub_id expire_date
----------- -----------------------
2178 2023-02-01 00:00:00.000
2178 2020-01-01 00:00:00.000
2179 2023-02-01 00:00:00.000
2179 2020-01-01 00:00:00.000
2180 2023-02-01 00:00:00.000
2180 2020-01-01 00:00:00.000
2348 2023-02-01 00:00:00.000
2908 2023-02-01 00:00:00.000
2909 2023-02-01 00:00:00.000

You should have received an email about the expiration date.

Tommy / John,

Thank you for looking into that! That would explain it. I just confirmed all of my subscriptions, hopefully we'll start getting data again soon.

I didn't get the email I usually see about needing to confirm. How often do they have to be confirmed? I'll set an item in my calendar to remind me to do it next time even if I don't get the emails.

Also, it's possible you have a corporate email for me that no longer receives messages. Is there a way to PM you and have you check?

Andrew,

If you were able to log into our web site and confirm the subscriptions, the email for the subscriptions matches the one registered with your Earthdata account (@digitalglobe.com). The expiration emails start 15 days prior to the expiration date and are resent every 7 days, so users get 3 emails (day 15, 8, and 1) before the subscriptions expire. The last one for your subscriptions went out on 2023-01-25 at around 00:10:00 UTC. Did they end up in your spam/junk folder? The subscriptions you confirmed today are good for about 6 months, expiring on 2023-08-03.
