Error finding SeaHawk products

by f_silva » Thu Feb 09, 2023 2:21 pm America/New_York

Hello.
In the last few days I've been working with some files from the Hawkeye sensor. One thing I noticed is that there are files registered in the EarthData Search platform (https://search.earthdata.nasa.gov/search) that do not appear on the https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/ browser.
I can give you an example: the file SEAHAWK1_HAWKEYE.20220218T035717.L1A.nc appears on the EarthData Search, but when I try to download, it returns an Error (without specification on what type of error it is). In the Ocean Color browser I can't even find it.

Does anyone now why this happens? Maybe the images were acquired and registered but never published? I thought I would just let you know. Right now I have 13 other examples where the same thing happens.

Thanks!

The file you listed (and likely the 13 others you found) were flagged for bad quality, but after the CMR record was generated. The ocean color L1/2 browser and our download tools knows about this flag and so stubbornly refuse to show the file. The CMR records have been scheduled to be removed (there are quite a few of them), but until they are Earthdata search will still report them.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Sean
