I am a graduate student of Civil Engineering and I want to download the past wildfire datasets for all counties of New Mexico or in the following format. The FIRMS website has the number of wildfires written on the map which cannot be downloaded.

data latitude longitude no of fires burnt area

Thanks,

Abdur

Hi Abdur,

FIRMS does not provide active fire data by county, but they are available at the country level. Please go to the FIRMS Archive Download (https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/download/) and from here you can select download yearly summaries (as csv files) by country (https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/country/). Currently these are available through to 2021.

If you want data up to the present, please use the FIRMS Archive Download - this enables you to customize your download by date/format/country/area on a map, and contains both standard and near real-time data (see https://www.earthdata.nasa.gov/faq/firms-faq#ed-nrt-standard).

Please note the coverage:
MODIS Collection 6.1: Temporal Coverage: 11 November 2000 - present
VIIRS S-NPP 375m: Temporal Coverage: 20 January 2012 - present
VIIRS NOAA-20 375m: Temporal Coverage: 1 January 2020 - present

I trust this helps. Let us know if you have further questions.
